On-road price: CarWale’s indicative on-road estimates for the base version range from about ₹11.01 lakh in Ahmedabad and ₹11.33 lakh in Delhi to around ₹12 lakh in Bengaluru. The final figure depends on your state’s road tax, insurance and any accessories, so always ask for an itemised quote.

Engine, gearbox and mileage

There is only one engine at launch: the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol already used in the Creta and Verna, making 115 PS and 144 Nm and driving the front wheels. You can pair it with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic. Hyundai’s claimed figure is 18.6 kmpl for the CVT; real-world mileage is usually lower, depending on traffic and driving style.

There is no turbo-petrol or diesel option. According to both reports, a factory-fitted CNG version is planned for January 2027, which matters if you drive long distances every day.

Features and safety

The launch reports list a long feature set for the range. Not every item is on every variant, and Hyundai’s variant-wise list is the one to check before you book.

  • Screens: a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
  • Comfort: panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 8-way powered driver’s seat, automatic climate control and rear AC vents.
  • Convenience: wireless phone charger, 8-speaker Bose sound system, ambient lighting, drive modes, USB Type-C ports and voice commands in 23 regional languages.
  • Safety: six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ESC, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring, an electronic parking brake, disc brakes on all four wheels and front, side and rear parking sensors.

Colours: Atlas White, Titanium Black, Fiery Red, Classy Blue, Golden Bronze and Ecotonic Grey. Fiery Red and Atlas White are also offered with a black roof, and Classy Blue and Ecotonic Grey in a matte finish.

Where the Bayon fits in Hyundai’s range

Hyundai positions the Bayon between the compact Venue and the larger Creta. At about 4.2 metres, it is slightly shorter than the current Creta, but it shares the Creta’s engine and offers a similar list of comfort and safety features at a lower starting price. CarWale notes it also works as an alternative to the entry-level Creta variants until the next-generation Creta arrives, which is expected in 2027.

In this price band it will be compared with cars such as the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Tata Curvv, many of which offer turbo-petrol, hybrid or diesel options that the Bayon does not have yet.

Who should consider it, and who should wait

Consider the Bayon if…Wait or look elsewhere if…
You want Creta-like features and a proven 1.5 petrol for less moneyYou want a diesel, turbo-petrol or strong hybrid
You mainly drive in the city and want an automatic (CVT from ₹13.85 lakh)You drive very long distances daily and would benefit from the CNG version due in January 2027
Safety tech such as ADAS and a 360-degree camera matters to youYou would rather wait for the next-generation Creta, expected in 2027

What to do before you book

  1. Check the variant list. Features such as ADAS, ventilated seats and the sunroof are usually limited to higher trims. Ask the dealer for Hyundai’s official variant-wise feature sheet.
  2. Test drive the manual and the CVT back to back, ideally in traffic, to decide whether the automatic is worth roughly ₹1.4 lakh more.
  3. Get an itemised on-road quote and compare insurance quotes from outside the dealership.
  4. Ask how long the introductory price applies and what delivery date the dealer will put in writing.
  5. Compare running costs: if fuel spend is your main concern, read our guides on regular vs premium petrol and hybrid cars that can cover 1,000 km on a tank.

Tip for new car owners: a privacy-safe QR sticker such as our own EaseTag lets people alert you about your parked car (blocking, lights on, towing) without seeing your phone number.

The bottom line

The Bayon gives you much of what makes the Creta popular, its 1.5 petrol engine, big screens, ADAS and a panoramic sunroof, from about ₹10 lakh ex-showroom. The trade-offs are a petrol-only line-up for now and a slightly smaller body. If you are a city driver who wants a well-equipped automatic, it is worth a test drive; if you need diesel, hybrid or CNG economy, compare the alternatives or wait for the CNG version next year.
