Delhi has a number of major tourist attractions and monuments, including some of the world’s most famous tourist sites in the world. You can always find tourists around India Gate, Lotus Temple and Qutub Minar. One of Delhi’s lesser-known gems is the national zoological park. It is also one of Delhi’s top weekend sites to visit! There are three zones at the Delhi Zoo – Indo-Gangetic Plain Zone for deer and other mammals that live on grasslands; Central Asian Zone for animals such as black bear and Bengal tiger that thrive in cold climates; Eastern Himalayan Zone which exhibits animals found near Mount Kanchenjunga such as snow leopards and red pandas. Entry fee is Rs 250 for adults with senior citizens (above 60 years) getting 50% off while children under 12 years get free entry.

Perfect time to reach there

The best time to visit Delhi is during the winter season, which lasts from October through March. During this time, the weather is cooler and dryer. Visitors will want to dress in layers and bring a light jacket or sweater for those times when it may get chilly.
The zoo opens at 9 am, so visitors should plan on arriving about 8-8:30 am if they are coming by car. Coming by metro requires an additional stop at Rajiv Chowk station before heading over to the zoo entrance. Admission is 150 rupees per adult (about $2 US), 100 rupees for children up to 12 years of age, and free for children under 5 years old. Tourists will also need a camera because there are many photo opportunities throughout the park. One great place to take photos is near the waterfall inside the bird garden. Nearby are plenty of benches where tourists can relax with their lunch.
There is also a pool inside where tourists can swim with dolphins!
The tiger safari tour was very cool and offered some amazing views of different animals including giraffes, hippos, zebras, elephants and white rhinos. Be sure not to miss out on all these fun activities while visiting Delhi’s National Zoological Park!

How to Get Around

There are several ways to get around Delhi. Delhi has the third-largest public transportation network in the world, and this includes buses, metro trains, taxis and auto-rickshaws. If you’re not staying in a hotel near a metro stop or bus station, taking an auto-rickshaw will be your cheapest option. Auto-rickshaws are typically three people seated in a row with two facing forward while one faces backward and drives. They’re ubiquitous throughout the city so you’ll never have trouble finding one if it suits your needs. You’ll be expected to negotiate with them as well as agree on a price before getting into their vehicle. Keep in mind that these drivers may try to take longer routes than necessary to make more money from your ride. It is always best to know where you want to go before entering an auto-rickshaw.
