A Triumph Tiger 1200 adventure motorcycle on a mountain road

Triumph has announced Indian pricing for the updated Tiger 1200 adventure tourer. The 2027 model starts at Rs 20.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the GT Pro, while the off-road-focused Rally Explorer costs Rs 23.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Both get more power, radar-based rider aids and semi-active suspension, but reports say they will reach India only in March 2027, so you have time to plan.

This guide is based on published reports and the specifications released at launch. We have not ridden the bike. Prices are ex-showroom (Delhi, as reported by BikeDekho) and will differ by state and city once insurance, registration and other charges are added. Figures are as of 1 November 2026.

2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 price and variants

Two variants are on offer. The GT Pro is the road-biased version. The Rally Explorer is the long-distance and off-road version with a bigger tank and extra protection. The outgoing MY24 bikes were priced at Rs 20.79 lakh (Rally Pro) and Rs 20.89 lakh (GT Explorer), according to Autocar India, so the entry price has moved up only slightly.

Engine and performance

Both variants use a 1,160cc liquid-cooled inline-triple. Power is 158hp at 9,250rpm, which is 8hp more than before. Triumph has reworked the cylinder head, pistons and exhaust, and fitted lighter valves with more precise fuel injection. Gearing has also been revised to improve low-speed pull, and the crawl speed is lowered by 6kph, which should help in slow traffic and on technical trails.

Torque is quoted at 130Nm. Autocar India says it now arrives lower in the rev range, while BikeDekho describes the torque figure as unchanged. The two sources therefore do not fully agree on how the delivery has changed, so check Triumph India’s official sheet before booking. BikeDekho also reports a bidirectional quickshifter.

Features and rider aids

The headline addition is a front and rear Bosch radar system. Based on the published details, it enables:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Group ride assist
  • Emergency brake assist and forward collision warning
  • Blind-spot assist and rear distance warning

Other equipment includes a 7-inch TFT touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a tank-top phone compartment with a USB-C port. Cornering ABS and traction control are listed too. Riders who cross highways full of trucks and unpredictable traffic will see the point of radar, though more electronics can also mean higher repair costs later.

Suspension, brakes and ride height

Semi-active Showa suspension with 200mm travel at both ends is fitted, with a 49mm USD fork. Automatic self-levelling preload is included, and BikeDekho reports the seat lowers by 30mm when the bike is stationary. A new low-seat accessory brings the seat to 790mm. For many Indian riders, who are shorter than the average European owner, that matters. Brakes are twin 320mm front discs with Brembo Stylema calipers and a 282mm rear disc.

One notable change is that the 21-inch front wheel from earlier generations is gone. Both variants now use a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, which suits road touring better but may disappoint riders wanting serious dirt capability, even on the Rally Explorer.

Rivals and price comparison

Autocar India lists the big European adventure bikes as the competition:

BikeEx-showroom price (per Autocar India)
Triumph Tiger 1200 GT ProRs 20.99 lakh
Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally ExplorerRs 23.49 lakh
BMW R 1300 GSRs 24 lakh
BMW R 1300 GSARs 26.5 lakh
Ducati Multistrada V4From Rs 25.06 lakh

On paper, both Tigers are priced below the BMW and Ducati options listed. Spec sheets alone do not decide this segment though; dealer reach, service quality and resale value count just as much.

Who should buy it

  • GT Pro: riders who do mostly highway touring, two-up trips and occasional rough roads, and who want radar-assisted cruising.
  • Rally Explorer: riders planning long, remote trips such as Ladakh, Spiti or the Northeast, who value the 30-litre tank, TPMS and engine protection.
  • Look elsewhere: if you want a lighter bike for daily city use. At 250 kg and above, this is a big motorcycle.

How to choose and what to do now

  • Decide your real use. If you rarely go off tarmac, the GT Pro saves Rs 2.5 lakh and 18 kg.
  • Avoid paying a large booking amount early. Deliveries are reported from March 2027, so ask your Triumph dealer for written delivery timelines and refund terms.
  • Ask for the on-road price in your city, including insurance, registration and accessories such as the low seat.
  • Check service access. Semi-active suspension and radar need trained technicians, so confirm the nearest authorised workshop.
  • Sit on the bike at a showroom when possible, to check seat height and weight against your own comfort.
  • Owners of big bikes can also look at our EaseTag vehicle QR sticker page, which helps responders reach your contacts in an emergency.
