Bajaj launched the Pulsar N250SS in India on 21 October 2026 at Rs 1,59,406 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is the new top version of the Pulsar N250. Compared with the standard bike, it gets a four-valve engine, a six-speed gearbox with a quickshifter, ride-by-wire riding modes and a 5-inch TFT screen. That puts it about Rs 14,000 above the regular N250, which stays on sale. The two closest 250cc rivals cost more. Below are the price, what has changed, how it compares with those rivals, and who should buy it.
All prices here are ex-showroom Delhi unless stated, as reported on or after launch day and checked as of 28 October 2026. On-road prices are higher and vary by state, because road tax, registration and insurance are added on top.
Pulsar N250SS price and where it sits
ZigWheels reports the exact launch price as Rs 1,59,406, which is Rs 14,136 more than the standard two-valve N250 at Rs 1,45,270. Autocar India and Evo India both round the N250SS price to Rs 1.59 lakh, and Autocar India rounds the gap to Rs 14,000. The N250SS is one variant, not a range of trims. The plain N250 remains the cheaper way into the same frame and styling.
| Model | Ex-showroom price (Delhi) | Key difference |
|---|---|---|
| Bajaj Pulsar N250 (2-valve) | Rs 1,45,270 | 5-speed gearbox, LCD console |
| Bajaj Pulsar N250SS (4-valve) | Rs 1,59,406 | 6-speed with quickshifter, TFT, riding modes |
One thing to know: when we checked on 28 October 2026, Bajaj’s own N250 page showed more than one price for the standard bike and had no separate N250SS listing yet. For the final figure in your city, rely on a written quote from your dealer.
What is new on the N250SS
Engine and gearbox
The 249cc air- and oil-cooled single now has a four-valve head. Bajaj quotes 25 PS and 22 Nm, slightly up from the standard N250’s 24.5 PS and 21.5 Nm. Evo India gives the same figures in bhp: 24.7bhp, against 24.2bhp for the standard bike. The bigger change is the gearbox. The N250SS gets a sixth gear, and a quickshifter comes as standard. Autocar India describes it as working for clutchless upshifts. An extra gear usually means calmer engine speeds on the highway, which matters more to daily riders than the small power gain.
Electronics and features
- Electronic throttle body (ride-by-wire) with riding modes that change power delivery, alongside the ABS modes.
- 5-inch TFT console replacing the LCD, with Bluetooth, call and SMS alerts, and Google Maps mirroring.
- Panic brake alert, a new safety feature for this bike, plus a dedicated hazard light switch.
- Adjustable clutch and front brake levers, useful for riders with smaller hands.
- USB Type-C charging port, placed on the fuel tank according to ZigWheels.
- Updated switchgear to control the new screen and modes.
What stays the same
The tubular frame, inverted front fork, rear monoshock and 17-inch wheels carry over from the standard N250. Dual-channel ABS is standard, with a 300 mm front disc. Sources disagree on the rear disc: Evo India says 230 mm and ZigWheels says 240 mm. Styling is close to the regular N250, with the projector headlight and twin DRLs. ZigWheels notes a larger-looking tank with curved extensions. No launch report we read listed kerb weight.
Colours
ZigWheels lists four colours: Atlantic Blue, Brooklyn Black, Fiery Red Orange and Pearl Metallic White. These are similar to the N160 SS, which got the same “SS” upgrade earlier in 2026.
Pulsar N250SS vs rivals
Autocar India names the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Hero Xtreme 250R as direct rivals, and Evo India adds the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. ZigWheels lists other bikes buyers cross-shop with the N250. The table uses only prices published in those launch reports. The ZigWheels figures are not labelled ex-showroom, so treat them as a rough guide.
| Motorcycle | Price as reported | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Bajaj Pulsar N250SS | Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) | Autocar India, ZigWheels |
| Bajaj Pulsar N250 | Rs 1.45 lakh | ZigWheels |
| Suzuki Gixxer 250 | Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) | Autocar India |
| Hero Xtreme 250R Carbon | Rs 1.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) | Autocar India |
| Bajaj Pulsar NS200 | Rs 1.49 lakh | ZigWheels |
| Yamaha R15 V4 | Rs 1.75 lakh | ZigWheels |
| KTM 250 Duke | Rs 2.28 lakh | ZigWheels |
On these figures, the N250SS is about Rs 26,000 cheaper than the Gixxer 250 and close to Rs 39,000 cheaper than the Xtreme 250R Carbon. Bajaj says the N250SS is the most feature-loaded motorcycle in the quarter-litre class. Evo India points out that only a proper comparison test can confirm that. The rivals differ in engine type and riding position, so compare more than the spec sheet.
Who should buy the N250SS, and who should not
It makes sense if you
- Ride on highways or long stretches often. The sixth gear and quickshifter are the most useful changes for this kind of riding.
- Want navigation on the bike’s own screen rather than a phone mount, through Google Maps mirroring on the TFT.
- Want a 250cc commuter-sport bike with modern electronics but a budget below the Gixxer 250 and Xtreme 250R.
Consider the standard N250 or something else if you
- Mostly ride in the city. The power gain is only 0.5 PS, and the brakes, suspension and frame are the same, so the Rs 14,136 extra buys features rather than a different-feeling bike.
- Want a liquid-cooled or sportier bike. Some of the rivals above are a different kind of motorcycle and suit different riders.
- Are thinking about going electric for short daily trips. Our guide to the best electric scooters is a better starting point.
What to do now
- Get a written on-road quote. Ask for the ex-showroom price, RTO charges, insurance and any accessories listed separately. Refuse add-ons you did not ask for.
- Test ride both N250 versions back to back. Check whether the quickshifter and sixth gear matter to you at the speeds you actually ride.
- Pair your phone at the dealer. Make sure the TFT connects to your phone and that maps mirroring works before you pay.
- Ride at least one rival. Even if you are set on the Pulsar, a Gixxer 250 test ride gives you a reference point for comfort and refinement.
- Check the fuel advice in the manual. Use the fuel grade Bajaj recommends in the owner’s manual, not what the pump attendant suggests. Our explainer on regular vs premium petrol in India covers when paying more is worth it.
Once you own the bike, a parking contact sticker such as EaseTag lets people alert you about a blocked bike without seeing your phone number. If you are buying your first bigger motorcycle, these practical motorcycling tips are worth a read.
FAQ
What is the price of the Bajaj Pulsar N250SS?
It launched on 21 October 2026 at Rs 1,59,406, ex-showroom Delhi. On-road prices are higher and vary by state.
How is the N250SS different from the regular Pulsar N250?
It has a four-valve engine (25 PS and 22 Nm, against 24.5 PS and 21.5 Nm) and a six-speed gearbox with a quickshifter instead of five speeds. It also adds ride-by-wire riding modes, a 5-inch TFT with Google Maps mirroring, panic brake alert, a hazard switch, adjustable levers and USB Type-C charging. The frame, suspension, wheels and brakes are the same.
Does the Pulsar N250SS have dual-channel ABS?
Yes. ZigWheels and Evo India both report dual-channel ABS as standard, with ABS modes alongside the new riding modes.
Bottom line
The Pulsar N250SS is not an all-new bike. It is the N250 with a better gearbox, a slightly stronger four-valve engine and a much more modern set of electronics, for about Rs 14,000 more. At Rs 1.59 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, it costs well below the Gixxer 250 and Xtreme 250R. That makes it good value on paper for riders who will use the sixth gear, quickshifter and navigation. If you mostly ride in town, the standard N250 gives you the same chassis and brakes for less. Test ride both before you decide.
